When you talk about finding purpose, you don't usually picture a pediatric therapy center parking lot. But for Emily Christy, that's exactly where it all began. Waiting on their daughters, she struck up a conversation with our founder, Neeli Faulkner, that would eventually lead to a meaningful partnership with Murder Creek Media.
"Thank goodness we clicked because it led to this amazing partnership," Emily says. In her day job, she's a fast-paced marketing professional who develops and launches disruptive food products. But a passion for justice and a minor in criminal justice from her college days never left her. When the opportunity came to combine her strategic background with a personal mission, it felt like the perfect fit.
The Driving Force Behind the Investigations at Murder Creek Media
So, what exactly drew her to Murder Creek Media's mission? Emily admits a lifelong fascination with true crime. "I've always been fascinated by true crime and understanding what makes people tick, especially the bad guys, "she says. "I have this strong sense of justice and tend to hyper-fixate on things that matter to me."
For Emily and the rest of the team, the mission is what matters most. "Our mission really resonates because if we can help even one person get answers or closure, that's one less family out there suffering in silence."
When asked what might surprise people about the team, Emily highlights the diverse group behind the work. "We are all volunteers! We're moms, business owners, employees, retirees, lawyers, professionals, even FBI agents," she explains. "Everyone brings a unique perspective to the cases we're working on, and we're doing this because we genuinely care, not because we're getting paid."
That work, however, is not without its challenges. The subject matter is heavy, and the cases can be emotionally intense. Emily describes the hardest part as "learning to separate myself from the trauma." She continues, "I'm an incredibly empathetic person, so I sometimes find it hard to step away and create boundaries. This isn't entertainment for us, this is real life, and scary things happen to good people." For her, the key is perspective. "You have to step back to really understand what's happening."

Applying Emily Christy's Marketing Skills to True Crime
Emily's background in high-stakes marketing might seem like an unconventional path to investigative media, but she's found that her skills translate seamlessly. "That experience has taught me to think on my feet and pivot quickly when new information comes to light," she explains. "The ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and think outside the box for creative solutions translates perfectly to investigative work."
Beyond her professional experience, she brings a more personal - and surprising - skill to the team. When asked about an unexpected superpower, she laughs and says, "Likeability." She's found that her genuine care for people helps them open up. "People tend to open up to me," she explains. "I feel like I have this unique gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued... and it's surprisingly useful in investigative work."
Building a Trusted True Crime Brand: The Future of Murder Creek Media

As Murder Creek Media continues to grow, Emily is focused on using her marketing expertise to expand our reach and build our credibility. "I understand how to build brand awareness, engage audiences authentically, and create campaigns that resonate with people," she says. "It's about taking those corporate skills and applying them to something that actually matters."
She believes that trust is everything for a media company in this space. "We absolutely have to be credible - not only for our listeners but also for those who reach out to us in good faith for help and support. Without a strong moral and ethical compass, we shouldn't be doing what we do."
When it comes to the ultimate goal, Emily hopes to see "continued growth and the ability to help more and more people. I'd love to see us become a nationally recognized name that families think of when they need help getting their stories heard."
For those who feel called to do this kind of work, her advice is simple yet powerful: "Don't give up. Through all the dead ends and frustration, remember that the next stone you turn over could be the one that changes everything. Persistence and compassion are your best tools."
Emily defines justice not just as convictions, but as something more human. "Sometimes it's simply about giving families answers, helping them understand what happened, and showing them that people still care about their loved ones."
That is the impact that matters most to her. "If we can bring one person peace after they thought no one cared anymore," she says, "what might seem small to listeners means the world to the victim's families." Her final thought on the experience? "I'm incredibly grateful to be part of this team and this mission. It's not always easy work, but it's some of the most meaningful work I've ever done."
